Think exercise is boring? Think again!

If you’ve tried exercising before and didn’t like it, it might have been because you had gone out and tried to do too much, too soon, and you ended up being hurt and overstressed. I have always thought that I should do only as much of a particular exercise as I feel comfortable with. So don’t push it, don’t overdo it. Learn about your body and listen to it and get to understand when it’s sending you a message. If you can only do 2 or 3 repetitions of a particular exercise, no problem!

Some people think exercising can be boring and I’m one of them! So, I go to extremes to make my exercises interesting and entertaining, at least to me. When I jogged or ran outside as I did many years ago, I made it a point to run to places I’d never seen before, historic sites, waterfalls, parks with monuments, parks with ducks and geese, places with marinas so I could see the boats and wish I had one, and any interesting place I could find.
Doing the stretching and upper body strength routine doesn’t take as much time as the aerobic part -- jogging or running. To me though it’s still boring so I do it where I can watch my favorite sports event on TV or hear the current news. So, it’s easy for me to be entertained while I do my fitness routine.
I go to extremes to make my exercises interesting and entertaining!
Now that I’m older I do all my exercise including the aerobic in my house where I have an elliptical and enough room to do the exercises. It doesn’t take a lot of space, including the elliptical the entire area is about 10’ x 10’. The elliptical is about 2’ wide and 5’ long. The TV is on a bureau against one wall. And there’s a nice big window that looks out over grass and trees. It’s a very nice place to spend a little time each day doing my exercises.
I look at it this way: I want to hear the news -- I need to know what’s going on in the world -- and I want to be fit. So, I have achieved two important needs in the comfort of my home in a short space of time. I didn’t have to go out in my car, the room temperature is perfect, it’s available all year round, I can do it at my convenience, I’m entertained the whole time, and it’s free! And I like doing it, it makes me feel good!
